Atlanta, GA — Disney has been known for their heroines' standards to be princesses with small waists but it is now breaking that unrealistic and non inclusive standard with a new short-film called Reflect.
“Reflect” features a “ballet dancer [called Bianca] who battles her own reflection, overcoming doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power,” according to Glamour.
Since its release, many viewers have used social media to express their appreciation for the film as body image is a topic that many can relate to. Society has created false standards of what a ballerina should look like and this film has broken those falsities.
This project will not be the last of its kind as Disney will be focusing on making more films with body positivity and self-esteem at their core. These films will start much needed conversations about representation and diversity on the screen.
