This is Gen Z's time to catch up on the latest and hottest shows they have been missing out on due to excessive homework or those stressful final exams.
Here is a list of five shows you should be binge watching during their holiday break.
“All American”
“All American” is a show about sports, drama, romance and more drama.
The show highlights the life of a rising high school football player named Spencer James from South Crenshaw. Spencer was later on recruited by coach Billy Baker at Beverly Hills High to showcase his talents to a larger base in hopes to eventually go to the NFL.
However, none in life is that simple, especially not in this show. As Spencer strives to be a top player at his new high school, many challenges come along that could potentially end his career and crush his lifelong dream.
In its fifth season, the show airs on The CW.
“All American Homecoming”
“All American Homecoming” is a spin-off of “All American” following the life of a young single mother (Simone Hicks) and young man (Damon Sims) coming to an HBCU to pursue their athletic careers. However, just like in All-American, it is not that simple for Simone and Damon to get to the top.
Throughout the series, Simone and Damon face major challenges such as rejection, heartbreak, and career-changing injuries while the audience gets a glimpse of other characters' stories unfold.
In its second season, the show airs on The CW.
“Outer Banks”
The popular Netflix show “Outer Banks” has similarities to Scooby-Doo, without Scooby-Doo himself. The drama series features four teenage best friends searching for an ancient treasure that is connected to one of their father’s disappearances.
As the teenagers hunt down the legendary treasure, a girl named Sarah tags along to help them. However, Sarah’s father gets in the way of the teen’s expedition and causes many life-threatening challenges down the line.
The show currently has two seasons, each with ten hour long episodes. However, the trailer for Season 3 has been released. As there is no anticipated release date, the show is expected to be released in 2023.
“Grown-ish”
As we couldn’t get enough of spin-offs, “Grown-ish” follows the life of teenager Zoey Johnson from the show “Black-ish,” the oldest daughter in her family. The audience watches Zoey take her first steps in a somewhat adult life as she heads to college alone.
As college has its perks and benefits, it also comes with many challenges and downfalls which the audience sees through Zoey’s life and her new college friends in all four seasons.
The series features "that in between place where you're not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time," Kenya Barris, the show's creator and executive producer, told Deadline.
The series now follows the second eldest child in the Johnson family, Andre Johnson a.k.a Junior, who seems to go through very similar yet unique trails Zoey went through as well.
“Sex Lives of College Girls”
On the topic of college, the “Sex Lives of College Girls” isn’t as vulgar as it may read. The teen comedy-drama show features four college roommates at New’s England’s esteemed Essex College.
Together, the four girls face many battles with their sex lives as one has an affair with her soccer coach, one secretly explores her interest in women, and the other two rapidly hooking up with boys as soon as they touch campus.
Just as chaotic as it seems, this results in one of the four girls possibly losing her scholarship and expulsion from the college.
In its second season, the show airs on HBO Max.
