Kanye West is looking to open a private school in California named after his mother.
The tuition-free Donda Academy would be home to 60 students, K-12, and focus on “equipping students with an education that will last in the ever-changing world,” according to the Jasmine Brand.
West hopes the school will honor his mother and educator, Donda West, who passed in 2007. The rapper is said to be eyeing a 3.7-acre piece of land between Moorpark and Simi Valley.
Donda Academy, Inc. filed a permit request with the building and safety division in Ventura County, asking for a change of occupancy at Simi Valley Stoneridge Preparatory School. That school closed a decade ago.
