Purses and totes are the perfect way to elevate your outfit. Subtly or over the top glam, handbags can stand as an accent, statement or pairing piece that takes your outfit to another level.

Here are a few of my favorite Black-owned purse companies that have great pieces for every season.

Homage

Homage purses are known for their unique shape and color schemes. Antoine Manning’s bags range in various colorways including more basic single color designs. The purses have become an online sensation from their highly creative social media presence as seen in their over the top photoshoots promoting the bags.

Telfar

These bags have taken over the internet with no sign of letting up any time soon.  Best known for their vegan leather and three sizes of shopping totes, Telfar prides itself on being a Black luxury brand that is meant for everyday people. Even with much celebrity buzz, they strive to be obtainable and even have payment plan options to increase access. Good luck getting these bags during their drop because they can sell out in seconds.

Brandon Blackwood

While his “End Systemic Racism” totes grew widely popular in 2020 during the civil unrest, the Brandon Blackwood brand has grown and diversified immensely. Best known for using vibrant colors, having eye-catching statement pieces, and utilizing different fabrics, this brand is even being sustainable by using safer materials.

Tega Akinola

Tega Akinola is a designer that is known for her upcycling a multitude of unconventional materials such as cords, jackets and even socks. However, the internet really fell in love with her upcycled purses made of fleece jackets from popular brands like Patagonia, North Face and Nike. Who doesn’t love when fashion and sustainability meet?
