Throughout the summer, New Jersey rapper Chris Patrick teased his fans on Instagram Live with short snippets of unreleased songs, building anticipation of his sophomore album, “X-Files.”

After teasing his first single last September, “X-Files” is finally here.

While the rapper with two first names isn’t new to the industry, he is definitely “Up Now.” Many are looking towards Patrick to lead the new generation of rap superstars.

Popular R&B curator and co-founder of upstart record label Pangea @rnbtomi expressed his feelings on who will pick up the torch next.

Patrick raps and sings over multiple genres on “X-Files,” including dance, afro beats and R&B. He also flexes his vocal ability by giving fans strict bars before going into a melodic run.

He released his first single, “Gang Activity,” last September. In the boisterous rap song, He explains the trials and tribulations he experienced only to reach a new level in his career.

Patrick shared that “X-Files is a project about accepting flaws and self-forgiveness. The album is important to me because it allows me to tell my story in a way that is sonically pleasing as a child, the expectation in my mind was that I had to be perfect. Mistakes were usually seen as imperfections and the fallout from said mistakes led to a deep depression that I’m still learning to cope with every day.”

Before releasing the album, fans gathered in Los Angeles, California for an “X-Files” listening party.

“X-Files” is now available on all streaming platforms through CXR and Good Partners.
