Chicago — The “Color Purple” has a musical remake coming to a theater near you soon!
The remake is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg, the producers of the original film as well.
Scheduled to be released in North America on Dec. 25, 2023, and internationally on Jan. 18, 2024, this musical remake’s main focus is the experience that Black girls who were turning into women had to go through during the early 1900s.
Stars featured in the film include Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks, Ciara, Halle Bailey and more.
