A new musical drama on FOX’S free streaming service showcases hip hop dance, overcoming obstacles and everyday life of teens in a limited-resourced school initiative.

“Howard High,” a new original drama on Tubi, stars singer Chrissy Stokes, Anthony Lewis and Earanequa Carter who play students who enjoy participating in the underfunded school performing arts program.

Due to budget cuts, the school doesn’t have the money needed. But if they win the national dance competition, the program will have money — $250,000 — for improvements. There’s just one problem. They have to beat schools from all over the country including their rival Liberty High, who happen to have the number one arts program in their district.  While going for the prize they also deal with challenges within their personal lives like love, drugs and peer pressure.

Stokes plays Nicki, a teen who loves to sing, but she is still trying to find herself. The art instructor Mr. Kirsh is played by Marques Houston and encourages them to strive for their best and he doesn’t have favorites or require auditions.

‘Howard’ is a show not only about striving for excellence in the arts, but also encouragement and positivity.
