Alabama; Phenix City — Isis Gaston, better known as Ice Spice, took the world by storm last year with her social media hits like “Munch (Feelin' U)” and “Bikini Bottom.” From the millions of streams on her music, to finishing 2022 as BET’s “Amplified Artist,” the rapper has achieved a lot in a short amount of time. In addition, the New York sound combined with her alt style is good for hip-hop.
Now the Bronx native surprised everyone when she posted an announcement on social media for her debut EP “Like..?.” last week. The EP, executive produced by RIOTUSA, is cohesive and establishes the 23-year-old rapper’s sound with six songs.
The same-day drop comes just after Ice Spice released the single, “In Ha Mood.”
The rapper's pop-friendly sound has been dominating hip-hop. And recently Ice Spice was spotted filming a music video for the song with her bestie, musician Cleotrapa.
Fans took to social media to give their thoughts on the newly released EP.
On the EP, “Princess Diana” gives us some of Ice Spice’s best bars: “Nowadays I be duckin’ them cameras/ And they hot that I’m up on ’em banners/Callin’ my phone but they know I don’t answer/In the hood, I’m like Princess Diana.”
“Gangsta Boo” named after the late Three 6 Mafia member, features fellow Bronx rapper Lil Tjay. The track is currently in the US iTunes Top 10 song chart at #9.
The sample of Diddy’s 2000 hit “I Need A Girl Pt. 2” is light, with hard-hitting bass that completes the duo.
Lastly, “Actin’ A Smoochie” is a vibey, club track.
Following the release of the project, Ice Spice earned 2.5 million streams on Spotify.
