The recent collaboration between Keke Palmer and SZA on “Saturday Night Live” was a resounding success, leading to an exciting new venture in the form of an untitled buddy comedy film under the TriStar Pictures banner. Deadline reported that the upcoming project is set to be produced by Issa Rae, with “Rap Sh!t” Lawrence Lamont director, at the helm. The screenplay comes from Syreeta Singleton, who also served as the “Rap Sh!t” showrunner. 

While the plot details are being kept under wraps for now, what is known is that Rae, along with Sara Diya Rastogi, will produce through Rae’s banner HOORAE.

Palmer and SZA’s chemistry on Saturday Night Live sparked the idea for this project. It marks SZA’s acting debut, as she was drawn to the opportunity to work alongside Palmer once again.

Keke Palmer has established herself as a versatile talent through roles in various films and TV shows, including “Akeelah and the Bee,” Jordan Peele’s “Nope,” and “Hustlers”. Additionally, she has ventured into podcasting with “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” and launched her digital network, KeyTV. Palmer’s accolades include a 2021 Emmy Award for “Turnt Up With the Taylors” and the distinction of being the first Black woman to win Outstanding Host For A Game Show at the Emmys for her work on “Password.”

SZA, a four-time Grammy winner and Oscar nominee rose to fame with her album “Ctrl,” which received critical acclaim and multiple Grammy nominations. She collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on “All the Stars” for “Black Panther,” earning nominations at the Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars.
