Halle Bailey gets her own ‘Little Mermaid’ doll.
Chicago — Halle Bailey, the 22-year-old actor/singer who is half of the award-winning duo and Beyoncé proteges Chloe X Halle, recently got her own doll. The “Grown-ish” co-star who will soon star as Ariel in the live-action-movie The Little Mermaid now has a replica of herself as her character. The doll even has her true facial features. In her video post to social media she shows off the toy saying, “And look, she even has my mole – see!” pointing to the mole above her eyebrow.
In a past interview, Bailey commented on how important this role is. “I know people are like, ‘It’s not about race.’ But now that I’m her … People don’t understand that when you’re Black there’s this whole other community,” she told The Face. “It’s so important for us to see ourselves.”
