The late rapper, Young Dolph, born Adolph Robert Thornton Jr, was honored with a street sign in his neighborhood of Castalia Heights, Memphis.
The permanent tribute lives on the intersection of Dunn and Airways reading “Adolph ‘Young Dolph’ Thornton, Jr. Avenue.” The naming allows the rapper’s legacy to live in on his hometown.
Young Dolph, 36, passed away on Nov. 17 due to gun violence in Memphis, Tennessee.
Memphis Councilman JB Smiley Jr., who supported street name resolution, expressed, “It’s about celebrating our own. Young Dolph was truly one of us.”
Memphis also declared the day as a ‘Day of Service’ honoring Young Dolph’s dedication and service to the community.
Friends and family of the late rapper gathered for his ‘Celebration of Life’ at the FedEx Forum. The celebration aired on REVOLT’s YouTube channel.
