The debut album, “SOUR”, by singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo dropped Friday on all streaming platforms.
The release comes months after her debut single, “drivers license”, became a TikTok sensation in January with dozens of users making videos using the song or creating theories on who the song could be about. The song debuted No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Rodrigo also dropped two new singles, “deja vu” and “good 4 u”. All three quickly became viral on TikTok.
The 18-year-old, who is signed to Geffen Records, has garnered the attention of artists she fangirled over growing up, such as Taylor Swift and Niall Horan.
Rodrigo performed “drivers license” at the 2021 BRIT Awards May 11, where she also met her idol, Swift. Days later, she celebrated the start of the second season of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”
The song holds the record for most streams in a day, Jan. 11, for a non-holiday song, according to Spotify. The next day, it broke its own record. Now, the song holds the Spotify record for most streams in a week.
“It’s been the weirdest week of my whole life,” Rodrigo told Billboard earlier this year. “My entire life changed this week, and also, everything is exactly the same.”
