The coming-of-age show is full of creepy and life-threatening messages, weird witches and lots of screams, but all of this makes the show stand out from the original series.

New York City, NYAs many couldn’t get enough of the hit Netflix show “On My Block”, its spin-off series “Freeridge” is something ride-or-die fans don’t want to miss.

“On My Block” followed four teen friends on a challenging yet hilarious journey of finding hidden money in a not-so-real but relatable city of Los Angeles in the fictional Freeridge neighborhood. While fans became attached to the main characters (Monse, Ruby, Jamal and Cesar) throughout the four seasons, it was sad for many to see the show come to an end.

Yet, it isn’t the end.

With “Freeridge”, fans will get a sense of familiarity as the show has related scenes, similar and reappearing characters, and most importantly the same exact setting.

In contrast, it is less about drama and more about supernatural events. Throughout the eight episodes, the series follows Gloria, Ines, Demi and Cameron as they unleash a curse that brings bad luck into their lives.

As “On My Block" was mostly all boy characters, “Freeridge” is predominantly girls. This aspect changes not only how the characters react to different challenges but also shows fans a side of the neighborhood that hasn’t been seen previously.

The coming-of-age show is full of creepy and life-threatening messages, weird witches and lots of screams, but all of this makes the show stand out from the original series.

“Freeridge” is now streaming on Netflix.
