Visionary game creator and director Hideo Kojima, famed for creating the esoteric yet calming video game “Death Stranding,” and its upcoming sequel, has teamed up with visionary horror director Jordan Peele for a new type of horror game known as O.D. Announced last week at The Game Awards, not much is known about the game besides its small teaser. This video, though, shows the main actors for the game which include Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer.
This game is not Hideo Kojima’s first foray into the horror genre as he was once working on a game called “PT,” which after the demo finished, was revealed as being a joint project between himself, Norman Reedus, and Guillermo Del Toro known as “Silent Hills.” Sadly, after a massive battle between the publisher of the game Konami and Kojima, “Silent Hills” was canceled and many gamers were malding at the treatment given to the auteur. Thankfully, Kojima rose like a phoenix and created his own independent video game company known as “Kojima Productions” where he can personally oversee and create the games he wants to make.
Now, after working with many actors, Kojima is working with Jordan Peele. For a quick primer, Jordan Peele was a comedic actor who worked with Keegan Michael-Key on the Comedy Central sketch show “Key and Peele,” before becoming a director for horror films like the Academy Award-winning “Get Out.” This combination of two directors who are masters of their craft has caused us to become very excited about how this game will turn out. According to the trailer, the game will be multimedia with it being somewhat of a game and somewhat of a film in ways that we have not seen before. As Kojima also has connections with many Hollywood actors, there could also be more surprising big faces in the game that we are currently not aware of.
For the gamer and screamer in all of us, we are excited and terrified of what is to come.
