After a difficult two years, Rexx Life Raj makes his return with “The Blue Hour.” Since the release of “California Poppy 2,” he has been through a lot — from losing his parents to moving out of his hometown — life has completely changed for him.

“The Blue Hour” was his way of healing from everything.

With the announcement of the new album on Instagram last month, Raj said “The Blue Hour” is about transition, grief and experiencing your emotions without running from them.

Raj channels his grief into vulnerable records, hoping that it helps others going through similar life moments.

The album’s singles contain more lively records like “Beauty in The Maddness,” featuring afrobeat star Fireboy DML and DMV native Wale. Raj delivers a spacy track with “Save Yourself.” His background vocals float in the ether while a familiar Bay Area-esque muddy bassline drives the song forward.

While “The Blue Hour” broadens his sound, the lyrical acrobat maintains the same level of rap flexibility, intertwining concise raps with ethereal vocals, all while delivering more personal and emotionally driven bars than previous releases.

“The Blue Hour” is available via Rexx Life and EMPIRE.
