Robert Glasper Shines on ‘Black Radio III’
Robert Glasper recently dropped his latest album, “Black Radio III,” featuring the likes of YEBBA, D Smoke, Tiffany Gouché and more.
While the world slowed down, Robert Glasper sped up.
The jazz legend created a project full of wonder with “Black Radio III.” The 13-track installment of his “Black Radio” series features hip-hop greats like Q-Tip, Common and singers Jennifer Hudson, Ty Dolla $ign and more.
Glasper released the lead single, “Better Than I Imagined” (feat. H.E.R. and Meshell Ndegeocello), in 2020. It won the Grammy for Best R&B Song the following year.
Recently, “Shine [Feat. D Smoke + Tiffany Gouché]” and “Black Superhero [Feat. Killer Mike, BJ The Chicago Kid & Big K.R.I.T.]” gave us a better peek of the album. Cousins D Smoke and Tiffany Gouché delivered a gospel-leaning record full of heavenly affirmations.
“Black Superhero” is a gentle, grooving track celebrating Black culture, history, and pride. Each unique artist takes a turn on Glasper’s jazzy, piano-based production.
Glasper formed the Grammy-nominated supergroup Dinner Party alongside jazz and hip-hop legends 9th Wonder, Terrace Martin, and Kamasi Washington in 2020.
He released “Black Radio 2,” in 2013 — just one year after the Grammy-winning “Black Radio.”
You can listen to “Black Radio III” via Loma Vista.
