Rapper Roddy Ricch claimed his first No. 1 single this week on the Billboard Hot 100 for his viral track “The Box.” On top of that, the Compton native’s debut album “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial” is currently the number one album in the country. This comes as a surprise since Justin Beiber recently released “Yummy,” his first single in four years. Beiber attempted to gain hold of the No. 1 spot with questionable promotional tactics. Bieber instructed fans to make playlists with his single as the only song on the playlist, and play it throughout the day, even in their sleep.

Despite that, “The Box” gained popularity due to it’s catchy “ee-er” ad-lib that repeats throughout the track and beat Beiber for the No.1 spot. This isn’t his only song to make the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper’s other hit, “Ballin,” rose to No. 11, and another track off his new album, “High Fashion,” currently holds the 35th spot. Both of these songs were produced by Mustard. Ricch is the first artist to simultaneously claim both No.1 spots on the Billboard albums and singles charts since 2018.
