After nearly three years since the release of his 2019 album, "House of Sugar," Alex G returns with his ninth studio album, "God Save The Animals."
Since 2010, the alternative rock and indie music star has slowly and steadily grown a cult-like fan base. His latest album leans more into a folky acoustic sound than his previous releases.
In early May, Alex G released the first single, "Blessings," quickly following up with his second, "Runner," just one month later. With the second single, he announced his then-upcoming album on Instagram in June.
The album's latest single, "Miracles," has a very laid-back acoustic sound with a hint of country, influencing the whole feel of the track. The beautiful acoustic guitar and subtle organ carry the melody, and the low-energy drums bring everything together. Alex G’s vocals are shaky at times, conveying a sense of desperation and pain that go well with the lyrics. He dreams about what could be in store for him while admitting fears from the past. The song blends feelings of sadness and hope all at once and is just very well done.
