On April 29, Cal State Long beach showcased Queer Hip-Hop Uncensored– an introduction to California-based queer emcees– just in time for the biggest gay event of the city, Long Beach Pride.
“It’s an awesome opportunity for us to show people that there are LGBTQ+ artists because I think it’s so important that we have this visibility, not just on campus, but our LGBTQ+ community overall,” said hip-hop artist Jayy Lee, who also co-hosts CSULB’s Queer Radio Show on Kbeach.org and is president of CSULB’s Q&A (Queers and Allies).
The video above highlights the musicians who performed and their views on queer visibility in hip-hop.
