Biden Administration Provides More Student Loan Forgiveness

California; Hayward — In response to the Supreme Court’s rejection of President Joe Biden’s expansive debt cancellation plan last summer, more than 150,000 people enrolled in a new payment plan received notification Wednesday that their debt will be canceled. 

The message, sent to approximately 153,000 student loan borrowers, included a congratulatory note from Biden emphasizing his administration’s commitment to addressing student loan debt and highlighting higher education as a pathway to the middle class. 

About $1.2 billion will be forgiven.
