You graduated, congratulations! Here are some tips to land your dream job right after school.
Network
Stay in touch with alumni and professors and reach out to them for insight of open roles in the field of your interest. Attend career fairs and connect with other professionals on LinkedIn.
Update your resume and cover letter
Don’t forget to update, add new, and take away old information on your resume. This is a crucial step in selling yourself to employers. Make sure to highlight your relevant skills and experience depending on the position.
Start early
The hiring process can take up to months at a time, so the earlier you can start searching and applying to jobs the better. Celebrate the accomplishment of graduating and enjoy the summer, just don’t get too sidetracked.
Consider internships and entry-level positions
Don’t be afraid to start at the bottom and work your way up. Internships and entry-level positions can be a great way to gain experience and make connections in your industry.
Prepare for interviews
Research the company and the position you are applying for. Practice common interview questions and be ready to talk about your strengths, weaknesses and career goals.
