Los Angeles — Chloe Kim made history Thursday by earning her second gold medal for Team USA in Beijing. She’s the first woman to win gold back-to-back medals in the snowboarding halfpipe.
Her pre-competition practice was shaky, but the 21-year-old landed a winning score of 94 meaning she was guaranteed to earn a medal. In the contest, snowboarders get three chances to place, but Kim only needed one and no other snowboarder came close to her score.
In 2018, the Southern California native became the youngest woman at 17 to win an Olympic gold medal.
