A Few of the Top Viral TikTok Trends of 2020
I’m sure most of us can agree that TikTok took over the internet in 2020. I hopped on TikTok much later than most, and now I can definitely say I am hooked. So let’s look back at some of the most popular trends of TikTok this year.
1. Tie-dye EVERYTHING!
When quarantine started and we were locked in our houses looking for something fun to do, here came TikTok with the tie-dye craze. Now don’t get me wrong, I know tie-dye has been around for a very long time and has had popular moments way before TikTok even existed. But quarantine has become the perfect time to do fun DIY projects at home. You can get any old plain clothing item for cheap on Amazon, Walmart, Michaels, or even just your closet and give it a fun makeover with tie-dye!
2. Whipped Instant Coffee
Iced coffee lovers unite! I love me some fun and tasty iced coffee drinks myself, and TikTok has a plethora of videos on how to make some yummy ones right from your own house!
3. Dance Challenges
If you’ve ever been on TikTok, then I’m sure you’ve seen an overwhelming amount of dance challenge videos. From a group of friends in their bedroom to your favorite celebrity, people all over have participated in some sort of TikTok dance.
Since so many of us were locked up inside for quarantine, the skincare craze went through the roof. There are thousands of people on TikTok sharing their routines and at-home tips. Particularly, the red skin solution from The Ordinary.
5. Brow Lamination
Another viral beauty trend was all about the brows. Brow lamination is usually done by a professional, but with quarantine preventing in-person appointments, the internet found a DIY solution. People have found different methods of doing the brow lamination trend at home, but one of the most popular is using an at-home eyelash perming kit. From what I can see, the result is beautiful fluffy brows. I might just have to hop on this trend myself.
6. Cooking Videos
One of my personal favorite TikTok trends has been cooking videos! I love to cook already, but on TikTok there are thousands of people sharing their favorite recipes with just a quick video explanation. I can spend hours scrolling through food TikTok just salivating at all the delicious recipes.
