ChicagoTeens have been seeking out outdated tech, including phones and cameras from the early 2000s.

Ebay searches for “digital camera” increased 10% from 2021 to 2022, with searches for specific camera models rising even more sharply, according to the Hustle.

Old-school phones and cameras have been catching Gen Z’s eye because they can take photos without being on their cell phone and it allows them to get needed space from social media. 

While older digital cameras and phones produce lower-quality photos, the blurry, vintage-looking photos are what Gen Z want to stand out from their peers on Instagram.
