Healthy vs Unhealthy Relationships

Relationship By: Brooke-Lynn

Have you ever been in a situation where you have to ask yourself if a person is worth losing your life? That’s where my friend was a years ago.

I have never seen anyone like this before. She was torn, heartbroken and hurt. It was pretty sad to see my friend like this. All I could do was tell her to leave him alone. She really liked this boy and he told her she had to change everything about herself to be with him. She had to change her looks and who she hung around with. He even asked her to have sex with him. She started wearing tight clothes that shows more skin than a 14-year-old should be showing. She started hanging out with him more. She would call me every night to tell everything that happened with him and her but she would never hang out with me like she used to.

I was very upset because I was starting to lose the closest friend I had in high school. He started disrespecting her a really long time ago but I noticed it  when we were talking in the hallway with some old friends of ours and he saw her and snatched her arm and called her out her name and told her to stay next to him for the rest of the day. She stayed with him for a month she ended up going to a counselor and told them what happened . What I learned from this relationship is to never change for anybody and don’t let anybody run over me.

To people who could be in an unhealthy relationship go get help stop messing with the person that disrespects you or emotionally, verbally, physically, and sexually abuses you.

Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year. According to loveisrespcet.org “One in three teens in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner.”

It’s crazy how so many people are being abused in high school. Most people feel like its real love and they are so in love that they can’t leave the person that hurts them. I think my friend change for this boy because she liked this boy since middle school she thought that if she listened to him and change herself she would finally get the boy she wanted. Everyone needs to value themselves more often than they usually do. Don’t let anybody or anything change you. If you do change yourself that would be unhealthy.

Everybody should know the difference between an unhealthy and healthy relationship.
