Bathrooms at My School are Closed and TikTok is to Blame

A bathroom at my school closed last month because of a trend on TikTok. At first, my friends and I laughed. That was a mistake.

As a high school junior, I spent day and night preparing for the PSAT. So when I heard about school bathrooms closing, I didn’t think much of it.

But, it started getting worse.

Each day, students could be seen running around campus — trying to get to the one open bathroom before the next class started. Dispensed soap became a luxury, because soap dispensers kept “disappearing.” And heck, even urinals started going missing.

And by the time of the PSAT, I couldn’t find any bathrooms nearby — at least ‘open’ ones. So I went into the test with a heavy heart, and a heavier bladder.

The culprit: “Devious Licks” — a TikTok trend challenging students to steal objects from schools. Our bathrooms were just some of the casualties.

Even though bathrooms are still closed, I’m optimistic. I started joining in on a new challenge called “Angelic Yields,” where students do good deeds intending to undo the harm from Devious Licks. And hopefully, soon we can flush this whole incident down the drain.
