DeKalb, ILLove was in the air throughout Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s “black-ish” as Pops (Laurence Fishburne) and Ruby (Jenifer Lewis) rekindled their romance by getting married, again.

However, planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic isn’t easy. Andre (Anthony Anderson) is upset when his Uncle Norman (Danny Glover) appears at his door uninvited for the wedding, despite testing negative for COVID-19, and more family members arrive afterwards.

“What kind of man would I be if I miss my baby brother’s wedding?” Uncle Norman asked.

Andre responded, “Someone who listens to CDC recommendations about traveling during a pandemic.”

Pops soon kicks out the extended family members during the wedding rehearsal when he learns that his brother asks Andre to help his son gain a marketing job at Andre’s job.

“Dre is your family, but he’s my son,” Pops said to Uncle Norman. “I need you to take your hand out of his pocket.”

Meanwhile, Junior (Marcus Scribner) is feeling inspired by his grandparents wedding and plans on proposing to his girlfriend of six months named Olivia, (Katlyn Nichol) that is until Andre stops him.

“That look in your eye, I had the same look when I took your mother to a wedding three months into dating her. I get it, son,” Andre said. “But if you take anything from your grandparents’ story, it’s that you don't have to rush love.”

His siblings, including Zoey (Yara Shahidi) who returned for Wednesday’s episode, warned against Junior’s early plans for marriage.

Towards the end of the episode, the arranged pastor for the wedding gets sick, and Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) ends up marrying Pops and Ruby.

At the same time, Uncle Norman and the extended family members make a surprise return to the Johnson’s house as Ruby walks down the aisle in a Kente cloth wedding dress.

“It was a wedding for the ages, and that's a good thing because I'm never gonna do this again,” Andre said.
