Prom season is in full swing on Netflix as the latest hit Broadway musical called “The Prom” gets a screen adaptation that was released Friday.

Ryan Murphy adapts the original 2018 Broadway musical which tells the story of four Broadway actors who travel to a conservative Indiana town to help a queer teen who is banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom.

Jo Ellen Pellman stars as teen Emma Nolan who longs to attend the prom with Arianna DeBose who plays Alyssa Green.

The four Broadway actors travel to Indiana because they believe it’ll help their public image after their careers have flatlined. But their activism backfires as they’re trying to help Nolan.

The Netflix adaptation also features a star-studded including Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman who all play Broadway actors. Keegan-Michael Key plays the high school principal and Kerry Washington plays the head of the school’s PTA.
