AtlantaReading slumps are real. They are a common issue for book lovers who find themselves unable to fully enjoy or finish the books they start. As a student, when it’s already a requirement for school, it can be especially hard to indulge in personal reading. Although tough, it’s still very possible to get back into the habit. 

Here are some general tips and tricks to help get you out of your slump and encourage your inner reader to roam.

Re-read Your Favorite Book

Sometimes, revisiting a book you love can help reignite your passion for reading and remind you why you enjoy it. Another suggestion is rereading a book you didn’t like initially, to take note of any shifts in your opinion. 

Audiobooks & E-Reading

If you’re feeling too distracted or even too tired to read, listening to an audiobook is a great alternative for you! You can enjoy your story while doing other tasks and activities. 

Pick A New Series 

If you’re looking for a longer commitment than a standalone book, starting a new series is a good way to spark engagement in your reading journey. A book series allows you to immerse yourself in a new world, follow the story of the characters and anticipate what insights and messages you’ll gain in the next chapters and upcoming books. 

Join Your School’s Book Club or Start Your Own

Joining a book club or starting your own is also another great way to motivate yourself to read more. It’s also a great way to interact and socialize with other readers.
