As the flu season gets underway in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, UC Davis is ready with one test for both viruses.
The UC Davis Medical Center is expected to roll out a new rapid test this month because of the dual threat.
The tests “can be done in the emergency department or in doctors’ offices or clinics that you can do the swab and do the test right there,” said Dr. Dean Blumberg, the center’s chief of pediatric infectious diseases, according to KCRA.
Blumberg said the risk of death is twice as high if you get the flu while having COVID-19.
An exact date when the test will roll out is unavailable.
