SeattleLearning shouldn’t be subjected to only something you do in school but a lifelong process. In your 20s especially, as we experience the many aspects of adulthood, it’s essential to seek out actively diverse perspectives and learn new things; podcasts are a great way to do that.

The psychological benefits of regularly listening to podcasts include boosting mental health, reducing stress, and improving active listening skills. Podcasts have been instrumental to my learning and growth as I navigate the world with the constant shifts of being an adult.

Here are some of my podcast recommendations for 20-something-year-olds.

  • Balanced Black Girl” is a top-rated podcast that focuses on helping individuals find their balance. Through weekly episodes, gentle reminders, wellness tips, and bonus goodness are provided to help them live their best life. I love Les Alfred’s storytelling ability and the guests she brings on the show. My favorite podcast episode was Being the Blueprint and Finding You Creative Path with Brooke DeVard. This episode provided insight into what it looks like to cultivate your creative career path.
  • The Dailyis a 20-minute-a-day, five-days-a-week news stories podcast by the New York Times. I’ve found this podcast to be a great way to stay informed on diverse news happening nationally and internationally. It’s incredibly educational and worth checking out.
  • On Purpose with Jay Shetty” has become a new favorite where Shetty sits down with well-known individuals in pop culture. He does a fantastic job going deep and getting to the core of who his guests are. I am fascinated by the stories of people influencing culture and finding ways to understand my life story and see different connection points personally.

I am a strong advocate for podcasts, and there are so many out there. As an adult, I’m still fine-tuning my listening and learning journey as I continue to grow. I hope these recommendations were helpful as you continue to learn in your 20s.
