On May 25 2020, George Floyd Was Murdered by Former Police Officer Derek Chauvin. As protests erupted throughout the world, mainstream media focused on the destruction of property more than the multiple killings of unarmed Black people at the hands of police. But in Oakland, CA, artists turned chaos into beauty by using the blank canvases of plywood lining downtown to paint the stories and images of the historical movement.
