Aaliyah returns to us with a new posthumous release, “Poison,” featuring The Weeknd via Blackground Records 2.0 and Empire Records.
The single arrives after the release of Aaliyah's music onto streaming services for the first time.
Following the long-awaited release of her groundbreaking discography to streaming services throughout Summer 2021, “Poison” continues to introduce Aaliyah to new generations.
The track – written by the late Static Major, Aaliyah’s frequent collaborator – has been updated with new vocals by The Weeknd and production by DannyBoyStyles and Nick Lamb.
And there’s more to come — Blackground has also announced “Unstoppable,” a new Aaliyah album featuring Drake, Future, and other contemporary hip hop and R&B artists. According to Barry Hankerson, Blackground founder, and Aaliyah’s uncle, another single is in the works.
