‘Megan’: A Metamorphosis of a Hot Girl
This self-titled piece of art is ready to get everyone rattling and coiling around each other.
Welcome to Hot Girl Summer everyone! Renowned Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, amid her Hot Girl Summer tour, has released her newest album, “Megan.” This self-titled piece of art is ready to get everyone rattling and coiling around each other. This will make you twerk and cry, with Megan’s amazing rap skills on full display as she shows her raw sexuality and emotions.
The album begins with “Hiss,” the song that became Megan’s first solo #1 on Billboard and solidified her as a force to be reckoned with on Twitter with her “Megan’s Law” bar and shots fired at fellow rapper, Nicki Minaj. The album has somewhat of a snake concept, with standouts being “BOA, “Cobra,” “Rattle, and Hiss. In the song “Broke His Heart,” Megan confirms her bisexuality, while also being a spicy bedroom jam that can be played in the club as well. The main standout songs are “Otaku Hot Girl,” and “Mamushi” which show Megan’s anime fan influence with “Otaku Hot Girl” being a grand tribute to her favorite anime and showing that she is an unwavering fan of the medium. The song also has an opening line from Jujutsu Kaisen dub actor Adam McArthur, reprising his role as protagonist Yuji Itadori. “Mamushi” on the other hand shows Megan’s versatility in both English and Japanese as she raps with fellow Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba.
I admire Megan for being bold in expressing her sexuality and for her still being on top. But I felt the album’s stronger parts are the ones where she expresses her emotional journey, as well as firing back at the vitriol she has received during and after the Tory Lanez court case. These stand-out songs are “Moody Girl” and “Cobra,” which show Megan rapping about her mental state and puts her in a more vulnerable position rather than rapping about money or material objects.
If you want to shake that rattling tail, this is the album for you, be prepared for a good time, just bear with the repetition that sometimes happens with the album, but if you can look past this, this is one of thee Stallion’s finest works and a package that bites you at the neck.
8 out of 10 slithering boas.
