Singer Lizzo is warning her fans that the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over and to continue social distancing as cases continue to rise.
“Hey, this is a public service announcement, I’m just putting this out here right now,” the Grammy-winning rapper said on Instagram. “I don’t care who you are — you could be the nicest person, you could be vaccinated, you could be quadruple vaccinated. If you see me, please give me six feet. This sh– is coming back, COVID, and people are being real sloppy with personal space.”
Experts say the current COVID-19 vaccines still provide significant protection against the variants and drastically reduce the risk of being hospitalized or dying due to the virus, but breakthrough infections are possible.
Lizzo’s trying to protect her own health by keeping her safety in mind. She doesn’t want people to get too close to her, but she doesn’t want them thinking it’s because she has a big ego.
“We can have a whole moment from six feet away,” she said. “Show me love from six feet away. I’m not being rude, I’m trying to protect my mother. I’m trying to protect my team.”
