Keke Palmer Talks About Motherhood Journey: ‘I’m Gettin’ Cooked’
Keke and Darius welcomed Leodis Andrellton Jackson on Feb. 27.
Keke Palmer, actress and a new mom to a baby boy, recently opened up about the hardships of motherhood.
The Robbins, Illinois native, who welcomed her first child with Darius Jackson on Feb. 27, commended parents everywhere in an Instagram video, captioned “ I ain’t gon’ lie, I’m gettin’ COOKED!”
“If you are a single parent, pull out your cape. As a matter of fact unclip your wings because I don’t know how else you do it,” she said.
Palmer didn’t want the message to sound insensitive since people become single parents for many reasons, but acknowledged the struggles she’s facing, even with support.
“Maybe they lost somebody. Maybe they don’t want to deal with somebody. Maybe it’s a choice,” she continued. “But when it comes to raising a kid, I’ve already learned in these short few days that it takes a village and sometimes that’s a privilege.”
She followed that up by noting by honoring her friends, family and parents:
“It could bring tears to my eyes. I am just truly, profoundly impressed,” she said.
Palmer and Jackson welcomed their newborn with an Instagram post in February, featuring the two bonding with Leodis Andrellton Jackson.
“Born during Black History Month, with a name to match,” she said. “LEODIS ANDRELLTON JACKSON, welcome to the world baby Leo.”
