DeKalb, IL — The family of TikTok star Swavy, whose real name is Matima Miller, is looking for answers after he was murdered in "a senseless act of gun violence."
The 19-year-old died after he was shot and transferred to the hospital on Monday morning, according to a Delaware Police statement. Police did not specify where the victim was hit in the shooting.
In an Instagram post, Swavy’s family said they're working "to get justice for Swavy” but due to legality around the shooting, they can't share much information about events surrounding the incident.
"This is just the beginning, we will forever keep his name alive and continue his legacy," the Instagram post read.
Swavy went by the handle @babyface.s on TikTok, which now has over 3 million followers and 108 million likes. His videos included dancing segments and meme skits.
His family said the impact he had on others "remains unmatched," thanking fans for the "continued love and support."
