A new season of music is here, and there’s a lot to take in. Take a listen to our picks from this week.

Charli XCX – “Baby”

Charli XCX sets the tone for her new sound right away with a dramatic violin riff. “Baby” is a departure from her usual hyperpop sound. Over a catchy dance track created by Sad Pony and Justin Raisen, she exudes vigor as she sings about love and power.

Pusha T – “Hear Me Clearly” (with Nigo)

Pusha T lays out the level of his success on “Hear Me Clearly.” He compares his achievements and recounts his climb to his current position. Japanese producer and fashion designer Nigo, assists with a simple yet menacing beat to provide a perfect platform for Pusha T’s one-of-a-kind flow.

Shenseea – “Deserve It”

Shenseea shows her versatility as she jumps from a breezy chorus to her usual vivacious tone for the verses on “Deserve It.” The track is bouncy and sweet, backed up by a dancehall influenced beat produced by Rvssian.

Joey Bada$$ – “Head High”

Joey Bada$$ discusses the value of life as well as societal issues on “Head High.” His poetic lyrics paired with the chilled and groovy instrumental-focused background produced by Statik Selekta, make for a gentle and introspective track.

Omah Lay and Justin Bieber – “Attention”

Nigerian singer Omah Lay enlists the help of JB to create summer-ready track “Attention.” Omah Lay’s lush voice sings about a one-sided relationship and desire for his partner’s love. The pair’s voices blend beautifully over the smooth afropop beat produced by HARV and Avedon.

King Von – “Straight To It” (feat. Fivio Foreign)

The release of King Von’s posthumous album brought many incredible songs. “Straight To It” brings out the best of Von’s raw storytelling and Fivio Foreign’s powerful drill solidity. Cochise – “DO IT AGAIN”

Cochise’s eccentric vocals in combination with a deep and spacey background produced by Nonbruh and Paradyse create a fun and otherworldly track. One of the biggest coming out of TikTok-era rap, Cochise raps about girls and his crusade through life on the single.

ODESZA – “Better Now” (feat. MARO)

Duo ODESZA recruit’s Portuguese vocalist, MARO, for the euphoric track “Better Now.” She sings about the beauty of risk and failure in life along with electropop production from ODESZA.
